With a suitable rug pad you can not only add a cushioning layer to the floors but can also minimize damage to the home’s interior.  Rug pads can make walking on the floor comfortable. Some even form an insulating layer, keeping your homes and feet warm. Some are waterproof and pressure resistant, in case you have a toddler or an elderly you are concerned about. Several manufacturers incorporate adhesives in the making of rug pads. So when purchasing one, ensure that the pad does not consist of such chemicals. It should be environmentally friendly and biodegradable.  Chemically engineered rug pads often comprise of certain glues that stick to the floor. This can result in the discolouration of the floor or cause it to chip off when removing or replacing the rug pad.  The glue can also distort the rugs by either loosening the woven strands or fading its overall colour.
Felt or rubber rug pads will be best the suitable option for your expensive hardwood floors. Their basic arrangement is what helps in forming a solid connection between the rug and the floor. They provide the non-slip function without damaging the floor or rug in any way.

Should Be Dense
Dense rug pads vary in ounces. Increased density means they will be pressure resistant and water repellent. Both these qualities ensure no damage will be brought to the hardwood floor. If heavy furniture is being moved on the rug pad, the weight will be balanced by them and not impact the floor. Similarly, in case of a liquid spill, the rug pads will prevent their infiltration.
Dense rug pads also help in cushioning falls. They are bouncy which ensures no physical harm comes to people.

The Arrangement Of The Rug Pad
When purchasing rug pads for hardwood floors filter through your choices of material. They should not be made of random plastics. They should be the culmination of a complex arrangement of substances like elastic, felt or rubber. These products form a decent and damage free link between the area rug and the floor.

It Should Not Be Harmful

The physical nature of rug pads should not be flimsy. If they are not firm enough, the rug pads will shift from their place each time pressure is applied on them. They will also lack in providing a cushion and bounce.  They might also not resist the weight of the furniture placed on them leaving behind vivid imprints and prominent scratches.

It Should Add To The Comfort
This is the first priority everyone has when picking out rug pads. Their density and thickness should be enough to add comfort to the house. They should not be uneasy and rough but rather should support human pressure.
As a result of all these features, you will find yourself living in the comfort of the finest rug pads.

Unfortunately, some people still overlook or neglect the floors when it comes to home decorating. The easiest way for decoration of floors is by using rugs with rubber paddings, and because of the fact that there are many different types of rugs, you can be sure that you will find the one that reflects your house’s personality and style. Rugs have the power to make their surrounding feel great, beautiful, comfortable and elegant, especially if they are soft and padded. If you want to add a touch of warmth and luxury, then the woolen rugs will help you achieve that, because nothing spells luxury and elegance like a wonderful and rich woolen pile under your feet. Moreover, the rugs create a sense of pure harmony and also contribute to the theme of the room’s décor.

 rubber
Rug cleaning should be a normal practice every two to four years, the cleaning will preserve the new and fresh appearance of your oriental rug. You will also extend the life span of your rug. Rugs may develop some wear spots from moth damage or heavy traffic over time. Frayed fringes may appear as well. Rug repair and restoration has to be done by a professional. Because of that, rubber rug pads are necessary, regardless of the floor surface. A pad will keep the rug from wrinkling and slipping. It should prolong the rug’s life by promoting air circulation around and under the rug. It should also act as a shock absorber, which is great if you have kids. I remember that my neighbour kids loved to play around our living room since it was all soft and safe for jumping, no bruises like on the hard floor outside. We wouldn’t like to forget one of the most important things when you deal with pretty much anything – money. Most people do not have unlimited resources and typically you will have your limits. That can additionally influence your choices. However, a great thing about rubber rugs (unlike other forms of flooring) is that they can be bought for just a couple hundred dollars.

And when it comes to setting up rubber pads, in most cases you should leave it up to a profesional who takes care of your flooring, but if you want to cut the budget down a bit, you can install it yourself with the help of a few tutorials which can be found on YouTube.  The rules are basicly easy to follow, the pads should cover the exact lenght of the carpet and not stick out. With that in mind, you should take a look at different types of rugs and rubber paddings for your apartment or home, it’s a great addition to any home and can make your room feel cozy and warm.

What is the Ideal Thickness of a Felt Rug Pad

Felt rug pads come in a range of thickness. A variety of factors determine the ideal thickness of a felt rug pad. Some of the factors depend upon personal choice of the individual, while some other factors belong to the type of floor you want the rug on. The important factors that help decide upon the thickness of the felt rug pad are described as follows:

Factors

1)    The type of floor is a very important factor that affects the ideal thickness of the felt rug pads. The ideal thickness of the felt rug pads will differ according to the floor. The hard surfaced floor e.g. hard wood floor will require a thicker rug pad as compared to the soft wood floor. The ideal thickness for the hardwood floor should be .30” and 3/8”. This will make the felt rug pads perfect for use. While, for the softwood floor, the thickness of the felt rug pad should be less than 3/8” and 30.

2)    The furniture that has to be placed over the rug also determines the ideal thickness of the felt rug pad. If heavy furniture is being placed on the rug, then the rug pad should be thick enough in order to sustain the weight of the furniture. If the thickness level of the felt rug pad is appropriate according to the furniture, then it will minimize the wear and tear of the rug on which the furniture has been placed.  While, if no furniture on the rug has been placed, then the thickness of the pad can be reduced accordingly.

3)    The ideal level of thickness of the felt rug pads depend on the climate as well. Because the floor tends to be colder in the winter the thickness of the pad will be varied accordingly. Similarly in the summer when the demand of keeping a room warm is reduced, the thickness of the pad installed will be reduced accordingly.

4)    The thickness of the felt rug pad is also a matter of personal choice. Some people may prefer thicker felt rug pads, because they mostly like to work on the floor, therefore, they will need a high level of comfort and the thickness of the rug pad will be more. While, on the other hand, there are certain people who use rug pads only for protection purposes and they may not prefer to use a very thick felt rug pad because they hardly ever use the rug for sitting on floor.

The thickness of the felt rug pad is a personal as well as the situational choice. There could not be a clear-cut thickness level as it depends on a range of factors.
